One of the key changes introduced on 1 April 2010 is the merger of the current Regional Economic Strategy (RES) and current Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) to form the first integrated Regional Strategy. This section of the website provides more detail on the current Regional Economic Strategy.
Regional Economic Strategy - 'A Flourishing Region'
The Regional Economic Strategy - ‘A Flourishing Region’, published in 2006, sets a shared vision for the East Midlands:
‘By 2020, the East Midlands will be a Flourishing Region - with growing and innovative businesses, skilled people in good quality jobs, participating in healthy, inclusive communities and living in thriving and attractive places’.
The Regional Economic Strategy is the product of extensive consultation with a wide range of public, private and voluntary sector partners in the region and is based on comprehensive evidence that identifies the challenges and opportunities ahead. The Regional Economic Strategy articulates a range of shared priorities and actions to help us achieve our vision of a flourishing region.
