East Midlands Development Agency (emda) is one of nine Regional Development Agencies in England, set up in 1999 by Government to bring a regional focus to economic development.
emda’s key role is to be the strategic driver of sustainable economic development – aiming to increase the economic growth and productivity of the region while reducing disparities between the East Midlands and other English regions.
As one of the Responsible Regional Authorities for the East Midlands, emda’s Board will be jointly responsible for preparing, implementing and monitoring the Regional Strategy. emda will also provide support to the Joint Strategy Advisory Board, Advisory Groups and Thematic Working Groups, as part of the Joint Strategy Team.
